Cardio Not Giving You The Results You’re After? Here’s What You Might Be Missing

It’s one of the great myths of the gym industry – cardio equals weight loss. And while cardio does have many benefits, overdoing it can actually have the opposite effect on your body and push you even further away from reaching your fitness goals.

It’s not all bad news though, if you’re looking to make a sustainable change in both your body composition and confidence, then stay tuned cause we’ve here to show you how!

  1. Prioritise Strength Training: The true fitness secret to getting more toned is to start building muscle. When in doubt, always consult a trainer, coach or online app or program, as having the correct form is the most important aspect of targeting and building the right muscles & preventing injury.

  2. Focus on Nutrition: While fad diets and nutritional misinformation are still running wild on social media, the tried-and-true approach of having a healthy amount of protein, carbohydrates and fats with every meal is always a safe bet. That’s not to say you should restrict yourself and not eat what you want when you feel like it, having an 80-20 mindset is the best way to not only see results in your body but keep yourself sane too.

  3. Don’t Skimp On Sleep or Recovery: If you want to improve the way your body looks, you’ve got to improve how your body feels. Getting 8-10 hours of sleep each night and giving your body what it needs to rest and recover after a long day or intense workout must always be of top priority. Failure to do so, will also make us more likely to revert to mindless coping mechanisms such as scrolling on social media or upping our junk food and alcohol intake to deal with our exhaustion and stress instead.

  4. Consistency Is Key: The fact is – you’re not always going to be motivated, you’re not always going to feel your best. However, real change takes real time and staying consistent is the only way you’ll see results.
