Less screen time, more Om time?

Let’s be honest, many of us spend time continuously checking our phones and other devices for notifications and spend so much time scrolling through social media. These activities can sometimes be difficult to stop. Today we want to encourage you to take some time off social media because it can provide a refreshing break and benefit your mental health.

As it stands for most of us, it is a major inconvenience to have no internet access or nowhere to charge our technological devices… that's because in today's society, our phones have basically become an extension of us.

Have you ever taken time to look at how much time you spend on your phone? Well we checked ours and…

💀 It’s kinda scary

And whilst our phones keep us connected to the world through texts, calls and  social media, sometimes it's good to take a step back and decompress. And it doesn't have to be something drastic but you could start by reducing your screen time by an  hour a day or even just making sure you don't start or end your day in front of a screen. Research studies have shown that by monitoring and being more mindful of your screen time and reducing it where necessary this can:

  • improve your quality of sleep

  • reduce stress

  • Boost mental well-being

  • ease anxiety

Take it week by week and try to look for healthy activities or tasks to replace social media like meditation, reading, learning a new skill, finding a new hobby, catching up with a friend or exercise!
