An ode to slowing down

One of our takeaways from this week is that the start of the new year is BUSY, we all try to fit more STUFF into the same 24 hours and can wind up feeling exhausted, overwhelmed or quite simply that we’ve fallen at the first hurdle.

You’re expected to hit the ground running, to set lofty goals and to quite simply DO MORE. But rather than always aiming to do more, try shifting your focus to FEELING better. We are big advocates of carving out time every day to include activities that REPLENISH you..

Find time to slow down, focus on activities that nourish your body and mind. There really is no one size fits all approach, one person’s medicine can be another person’s poison. So take a step back and think about what feeds you, some may swear by a walk or run in the great outdoors to clear and settle their mind, for others the mere idea of this will be torture and binge-watching the latest series on Netflix is what does the trick.

Write a list of ‘go-to’ activities that recharge your batteries and keep it handy on your phone or in your journal, so that when those feelings of overwhelm hit, you have your own personal wellbeing toolkit to turn to.

This may sound like simple advice, BUT, it’s effective, easy to implement and will make a HUGE difference to how you show up in all areas of your life.. You need to be nurtured just as much as your work does so make sure you make time for yourself too!
