When In Doubt, Walk It Out

One of the most underrated forms of exercise yet one of the biggest contributors towards our overall health and longevity, and it’s completely free… you guessed it, we’re talking about walking!

Research suggests that just 30 minutes of walking a day can have a massively positive effect on our bodies and minds, including reducing our blood sugar and blood pressure levels, improving our sleep and mood as well as even strengthening our memory and immune system. But the benefits don’t stop there! According to a study conducted in Barcelona last year, walking and longevity have been proven to be directly correlated; with as little as 10 minutes daily being linked to increasing the lifespan of those who are 80 years and older.

If you’re looking to make your walk even more impactful, try incorporating some deep-breathing exercises,  listening to a meditation or educational  podcast. Or why not leave the phone at home altogether and instead focus all your attention on your surroundings or what you’re grateful for at that very moment. Take it from one of our very own… Brianna Joye, founder of BOLD by Bree and the creator of the viral City Girls Who Walk phenomenon. After realising the positive impact walking could have, even beyond her health, she started this movement with the intention of encouraging women to move their bodies but in a way that was fun and social too.

Incorporating regular exercise is without question, one of the best things we can do for ourselves. And what’s best is that it only takes 30 minutes of walking each day to support our health. So grab a friend or put in your headphones, and start getting your steps in!
