Why Email Marketing Is The Key To Your Online Business's Success

As an online business owner, you likely understand the importance of driving traffic to your platform and grabbing the attention of new leads. But once you have those leads, how do you turn them into loyal customers? The answer is simple: email marketing.

With email marketing, you can deliver targeted messages directly to your subscribers’ inboxes, keeping your brand top-of-mind and driving engagement with your content and offers. Whilst at the same time allowing you to connect with your audience in a unique and personal way, building trust with them over time.

But let’s face it… creating the perfect email is no easy feat! Although we’d like to think we’re not doing so badly ;) From making sure your message is succinct and specifically tailored, to something as simple as having a stand-out subject line; we have compiled 5 tips for you to keep in mind when you’re creating emails of your own.

1. Think of your email as a conversation:

And write every single one as if you are talking to your subscribers individually and personally. Understanding who you are conversing with will allow you to target and reach your audience more effectively, creating a much more influential email overall.

Quick Tip: Next time you meet a current or even potential client, really listen and take note of what they are saying. Pay attention to any specific words they use or any particular topics they bring up or deem important. Knowing these could allow you to establish a better, more personal connection with your subscribers in your upcoming emails to them.

2. Pick an intention and stick to it:

Just think about the last time you received an email that you didn’t even bother finishing. Ask yourself - what is the reason for sending this email to my subscribers? And how is reading this going to impact and hopefully benefit them?

It’s crucial to remember that every email you write should be focused on helping and serving your community in some way. By covering specific topics in your email, you make it easier for the recipient to understand and take action; whilst overflowing your email can lead to confusion and inefficient communication.

3. Mind your tone:

It’s not just about what you say, but how you say it too. Words are everything when it comes to email marketing, so it’s crucial to be intentional with the ones you choose, always taking into consideration how your subscribers might react to and interpret them. Especially as you cannot rely on facial expressions, body language or cadence - it's always encouraged to come across as friendly and in a positive light.

4. Your subject is key:

As it is the first thing your subscribers will see; make sure your subject line is short and sweet but also attention grabbing! Want to know the secret to writing one that’s click-worthy? Create a sense of curiosity! An element of mystery is hugely important in getting your subscribers to not only want to open your email but continue reading more. Your subject line is the perfect chance to get creative - why not add in some emojis or spark their interest with a tease or question.

5. Make it extra:

And not with unnecessary information. Adding extra features or functionalities to your emails is a great way to keep your subscribers interested and increase their engagement. Testimonials, pictures or short videos as well as links to blog posts or your social media are all great ways to spruce up your emails and grab your clients attention, whilst at the same time hopefully driving traffic to your platform.

So, whilst planning and crafting emails can be a challenging and time-consuming process, it’s crucial to put the effort in. Writing something that will engage with and benefit your community is hugely important and will ultimately allow you to not only retain your current customers but hopefully attract new one’s too!
